Coaching Support for Parents Returning to Work

Supporting working parents with calm, clarity, and confidence alongside sleep support.

Over the years, The Wee Sleep Coach has become a place parents turn when nights feel long, energy feels low, and they’re not quite sure where to start.

Often, sleep is the first thing that feels broken. But in my experience, it’s rarely the only thing going on.

Alongside my work supporting families with baby and toddler sleep, I’m also a qualified coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

This allows me to support parents in a slightly broader (but very connected!) way, particularly during the transition back to work after having a baby.

When returning to work feels harder than expected

Returning to work after parental leave can feel surprisingly heavy even for the most capable, organised, high‑achieving parents.

Many parents experience:

  • A constant juggle between home life and work life

  • Quiet imposter syndrome after time away from the workplace

  • Pressure to be a good parent, a good partner and good at your job -all at once

  • Mental load that never really switches off

Many parents I support are doing fine on the outside but internally, things feel harder, noisier and more exhausting than they expected.

Why I offer coaching (personally and professionally)

I had this experience personally.

When I returned to work after maternity leave, I struggled more than I anticipated. I felt like everything had moved on without me. I questioned my place, my confidence and my next steps. Some of the work I had built before maternity leave had changed whilst I was out of office and I found myself second‑guessing decisions I would once have made instinctively.

Having a coach at that time was genuinely life‑changing.

Coaching gave me space to think clearly again. It helped me reframe the stories I was telling myself, untangle what was within my control, and take calm, intentional next steps rather than pushing through on empty.

That experience is what led me to pursue formal coaching training alongside my sleep work.

How coaching fits alongside sleep support

Sleep remains a foundational part of everything I do.

When sleep is broken:

  • Decision‑making becomes harder

  • Confidence dips

  • Emotions sit closer to the surface

But I also support many parents whose child’s sleep is improving and yet they still feel overwhelmed, stretched, or unsure of themselves as they return to work and navigate this new phase of life.

Supporting parents with both sleep and capacity felt like a natural next step.

1:1 coaching for parents returning to work

I offer 1:1 coaching for parents returning to work who want support to:

  • Make clearer, calmer decisions without second‑guessing themselves

  • Untangle mental load and competing priorities

  • Rebuild confidence at work and at home

  • Create a way of working and living that feels more sustainable

This is not about fixing you. It’s about creating space to think, reflect, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.

If sleep is the piece that needs support

If work feels manageable but sleep deprivation is what’s making everything harder, you might find my Sleep Support a better fit right now.

Sometimes better sleep really does change everything else.

If you’re unsure what kind of support would feel most helpful, you’re always welcome to get in touch and talk it through.

Frequently asked questions

  • This is coaching, not therapy. Coaching is future-focused and practical, helping you think clearly, reflect and decide your next steps. It’s not about diagnosing or fixing problems, but about supporting you to move forward with more confidence.

  • This coaching is designed for parents returning to work after maternity or parental leave particularly those juggling work, family life, and the mental load that comes with both.

Many people I work with are capable, high-performing and used to managing a lot they just don’t want to carry it all alone.

  • Not at all. Some parents come to me primarily for sleep support, others for coaching, and some for both at different stages. We’ll always focus on what feels most supportive for you right now.

  • Each session is a confidential, supportive conversation. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, help you explore what’s getting in the way, and support you to make clearer, calmer decisions without second-guessing yourself.

  • Sleep support focuses on your child’s sleep and routines. Coaching focuses on you. Your confidence, capacity, and decision-making as a parent and professional. They’re different, but deeply connected.
